The Ohio State University - Wooster, Ohio
I attendend The Ohio State University's Agricultural Techinical Institute (ATI) where I graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Turfgrass Management. Wooster is located approximently 90 minutes from the greater Cleveland area in Wayne County. ATI is a agricultural based college specializing in seventeen different fields. Students may transfer their credits to The Ohio State main campus after graduation to pursue a four year degree. In addition to having smaller classrooms, turfgrass management students have the ability to sharpen their skills from a one hole golf course, after hour practicum and internship program during the summer. This was very beneficial for me to learn from others while sharing my experiences in the classroom.
Through the years I have taken educational seminars that have been offered by the USGA, PAPA, GCSAA and from my local chapter that have covered a wide variety of helpful topics on golf course management which have kept me up to date on new chemicals, diseases, laws and regulations and human resources. I have been fortunate to attend the national GCSAA Conference and Show every year since 2004. During this week of activities I am able to attend valuable educational seminars, interact with other Superintendents and learn of new products/equipment from sales people at the tradeshow. By attending this Conference I have obtained the required points to take the Superintendent's Certification. One of my career goals is to become certified on this national level.
